Meet the Team

  • Dr. Kody Colvin (he/him)

    CO-FOUNDER

    Kody Colvin started his career as an elementary educator before entering school administration. In addition to his work responsibilities, Kody co-founded Friends, Allies, and Mentors (F.A.M.) of the LGBTQ Community in 2016. The goal of F.A.M. is to provide professional learning experiences for educators to better support their LGBTQ stakeholders in school. In 2017, SLCSD, in partnership with F.A.M., created a task force to develop and implement policies and procedures that would better support our LGBTQ stakeholders. Kody completed his doctorate at the University of Utah in the Educational leadership & Policy program. He researched how professional learning impacts educators ability to enact LGBTQ affirming curricula in K-12 schools.

  • Dr. Alli Martin (she/her)

    CO-FOUNDER

    Alli works as an Assistant Principal at Horizonte Instruction and Training Center in Salt Lake City School District. She earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Utah. Alli serves as a member of the Board of Governors for the Human Rights Campaign and is a co-founding member of Friends, Allies, and Mentors of the LGBTQ community (FAM). Through her work with FAM, Alli regularly provides professional learning experiences to educators on issues of intersectionality and LGBTQ youth.

  • Bianca Mittendorf (she/her)

    Bianca holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Anthropology, a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education, and a Master of Human Resource Management. She is currently completing an Administrative Licensure program and aspires to become a superintendent. Bianca is currently the Title IX Coordinator of Davis School District and has taught special education at the elementary and middle school levels. Advocating for social and racial justice is her passion and thus she is active in various community organizations. In her downtime, Bianca enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and reading.

  • Cara Cerise (she/her/they/them)

    COMMUNITY OUTREACH

    Cara is an out and outspoken LGBTQ+ identified elementary educator. She has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Spanish from Westminster College and a master’s in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of Alcalá de Henares. Cara was recognized as the 2021 Utah NAME (National Association for Multicultural Education) Educator of the Year and is deeply committed to creating inclusive and affirming environments for all students to learn, grow, and thrive.

  • Bree Taylor-Lof (they/them)

    ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

    Bree is a proud queer and trans-nonbinary educator. They have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership & Policy from the University of Utah. They are passionate about inclusive and diverse characters in children’s literacy, especially LGBTQ+ representation. In addition to teaching, they also run a Rainbow Club for K-6 LGBTQ+ students & allies in their school community.

    They aren’t sure what will take over their house first— the plants, the books, or the crafts.

  • Hailey Anderson (she/her)

    Hailey has a bachelors degree in Science from the University of Utah and is a Registered Nurse at the University of Utah hospital. She has three children in K-12 schools and is a fierce advocate for their human rights. She helped start an Equity Committee and a Rainbow Club at her children’s school. She has a passion for equity work, specifically LGBTQ+ representation and inclusion in Utah schools.

    She also enjoys traveling, reading, and eating good food.

  • Roberto Lopez (he/they)

    Roberto is a proud first-generation Mexican immigrant. Living most of his life in Utah gave him the opportunity to experience first hand the need these communities had for visibility, equity and inclusivity. Currently serving as Community Engagement Director of Unidxs. They are driven, dedicated and passionate about creating and curating LGBTQ+ & BIPOC safe spaces that promote representation, visibility and empowerment. In addition to their community work, they are also a single father of 3 teens and an amateur baker.

  • Rilee Pickle (they/she)

    Pickle is a Language Arts teacher in Salt Lake City School District. They have a Master's Degree in Teaching from Westmiter College. In her spare time, Pickle likes to read, write poetry, research whatever hyperfixation she has that week, and hang out with her dog.
